Atrtists impression of the new Severn Hospice currently being built at Apley Castle

We are a charity providing care, free of charge, to local patients with illnesses including cancer, lung disease, heart failure, MS and MND. We receive over 1,000 referrals each year and our patients come from all income brackets, age groups, races and religions with referral based purely on clinical need.

We provide pain and symptom control and care for the emotional, physical, spiritual and sociological wellbeing of each individual. We also support those closest to them, offering counselling and bereavement support.

While we may not be able to add days to our patients’ lives, we aim to put life into their days.

In July 2004 we launched the Severn Hospice – Telford Appeal to build a new Hospice at Apley Castle. Each year over a third of our patients come from Telford and Wrekin and we are keen to provide a more local service for them.

Local people have already raised over £4,250,000 and work began on site in July. We hope the Day Hospice will open in late 2007 and the in-patient unit in spring 2008.

The support of the community is essential in raising the £750,000 to complete the build and the £1.5million a year running costs.
